A Brachiosaurus's Tall Tale
Hello. I am a Brachiosaurus. I lived a long, long, time ago. My name means 'arm lizard' because my arms were so long. I was a friendly giant. I was very, very tall. My neck was super long and could reach way up high into the sky. Think of a giraffe's neck, but much, much bigger. That was me. Being so tall was my most famous feature. I Brachiosaurus had a towering height that provided a broad field of vision, allowing it to survey its immediate surroundings effectively. I loved stretching my long neck to look all around at the green trees and the blue sky. It was wonderful being such a big and peaceful dinosaur.
My favorite thing to do was eat. I was a plant-eater, which means I only ate yummy green plants. My favorite snacks were the fresh leaves at the very top of the tallest trees. Other dinosaurs were too short to reach them, so they were all for me. My body was special and helped me reach my food. My front legs were longer than my back legs. It was like I was always standing on a little hill. This special shape helped me tip my body up to reach even higher for the best leaves. I would spend my days munching and crunching happily on my treetop feasts.
I lived during a time called the Jurassic period. Even though I am not walking around today, you can still learn all about me. When you visit a museum and see my big, big bones, you can imagine me peacefully munching leaves high up in the trees. You can picture my long neck reaching for the sun. I hope you will remember me as the gentle giant I was, always reaching for the sky.
