Willow the Wolf's Story

Hi there! My name is Willow, and I’m a gray wolf. When I was a tiny pup, I used a den, often dug into the earth, primarily during the pup-rearing season. I snuggled close with my mom, dad, and all my brothers and sisters. My fur was soft and fluffy, and I loved to tumble and play with them all day in our safe and happy home.

My family is called a pack, and we do everything together! We run through forests and meadows, primarily hunting large prey like deer and elk. My pack teaches me all the secrets of the forest. When the moon is big and bright, we lift our noses to the sky and sing our special song: 'Awoooo!' That’s how we talk to each other and say, 'I'm here! Where are you?' Our song helps us find each other in the big woods.

Being a wolf is a very important job. We help keep the forest healthy and strong for everyone. By running and hunting, we make sure there is enough food and space for all the plants and other animals to grow. I love my home, and I'm proud to be a helper of the woods. My story is important because wolves like me help keep nature beautiful and balanced for all the other animals.
