Velociraptor

Hello. My name is Velociraptor. That sounds like a big and mighty name, doesn't it. But I was actually a small dinosaur. I was about the size of a big turkey you might see today. I loved running around in my home. I lived in a warm, sandy place with lots of sunshine. The sand felt warm under my feet, and the sun kept me cozy all day long. It was a perfect home for a little dinosaur like me to explore and have adventures.

I want to tell you about two of my favorite things about myself. First, I had soft feathers all over my body. They were fluffy and kept me warm, but they were not for flying. Even with all my feathers, I was a dinosaur that ran on the ground. My second favorite thing was my super special tool. On each of my feet, I had one big, pointy, curved claw. It was much bigger than my other claws. I kept it sharp and ready. When I saw my dinner, I would get very still and then I would pounce. My special claw was perfect for helping me catch my food. It made me a very good hunter.

I lived a very, very long time ago. It was a time called the Cretaceous Period. I am not running around anymore, but you can still learn all about me. Scientists find my bones hidden in the ground, and these special bones are called fossils. The fossils help tell the story of my life from long ago. It is so special to be remembered as the fast, feathery dinosaur with the cool claws. I am happy you know my story.
