Pocahontas

Hello. My name is Pocahontas, and I want to tell you my story. I was a princess, and my daddy was the great Chief Powhatan. I grew up in a beautiful land filled with tall trees and sparkly rivers. The animals were my friends. I loved to run through the forest. It was so much fun. I played games with my friends and listened to the stories of my people. I loved my home very much.

One day, something new came to our home. Big ships that looked like giant birds sailed to our shores. This was in the year 1607. New people came from the ships. They wore different clothes and spoke in a way I did not know. Some of my people were scared, but I was not scared. I was curious. I wanted to say hello. I met one of their leaders, a man named John Smith. He was my new friend. I helped bring them yummy food when they were hungry. I showed them how we lived in our land, and we learned from each other.

Sometimes, my people and the new people did not understand each other. It made me sad. But I always tried to help them be friends. I wanted everyone to be kind and share the world peacefully. I was very brave. I even traveled across the big, big ocean to visit their home in a place called England. I showed them that even though we looked different on the outside, our hearts were the same. We all want to be happy and safe. My story reminds us that being brave, kind, and curious can help bring all people together. It is always good to be a friend.
