Roald Dahl

Hello. My name is Roald Dahl, and I am a storyteller. I love to imagine wonderful things. I was born a long, long time ago, on September 13th, 1916, in a place called Wales. My mommy and daddy were from a faraway land called Norway. They told me amazing stories about silly trolls and magical creatures that hide in the woods. Their stories made my imagination grow big and bright. I will tell you a little secret. I loved, loved, loved chocolate. I dreamed about inventing a brand new chocolate bar that would be the most delicious treat in the whole world.

When I grew bigger, I had many adventures. I even learned how to fly an airplane way up high in the sky, soaring above the fluffy clouds. But my very favorite adventure was making up stories. I had a special place where I would write them all down. It was a little hut in my garden. Inside, I sat in a big, cozy chair. I put a board on my lap and used my favorite yellow pencils to write down all the fizz-whizzing, whoopsy-waddling ideas that popped into my head. It was my happy, magical place.

I wrote so many stories just for you. I wrote a story about a very kind and friendly giant called The BFG. He blew happy dreams into children's windows while they were sleeping. I also wrote about a boy named Charlie who visited a magical chocolate factory filled with rivers of chocolate and yummy candy trees. I loved creating worlds with scrumdiddlyumptious sweets and clever children who could do anything. My biggest wish was for my stories to make you giggle and dream. I hope they always remind you that a little bit of magic is everywhere, you just have to look for it.
