Vincent van Gogh

Hello! My name is Vincent. A long time ago, in the year 1853, I was born in a place with big, wide fields and lots of sunshine. I loved to walk outside and look at everything. I saw the bright yellow flowers, the deep blue sky, and the green, green grass. All the colors made me so happy! My best friend was my brother, Theo. He was the kindest person I knew, and he always made me smile. We loved to explore the fields together and find all the wonderful colors in the world. He was the best brother a boy could have.

When I grew up, I decided to become a painter! I wanted to put all those beautiful colors onto a canvas so everyone could see them and feel happy, too. I used my paintbrush to make thick, swirly stars in the night sky. I painted big, happy sunflowers that looked like they were smiling at the sun. Painting felt like magic. I put all my feelings into my colors. I painted my happy feelings, my excited feelings, and even my sad feelings. It was my special way of sharing what was in my heart.

Sometimes I felt lonely, but my paintings were always full of bright light and color. I wanted to share the sunshine I saw in the world with everyone. I grew very old, and then my life was over. Even though I am not here anymore, my paintings are. They hang in big buildings called museums for you to see. I hope when you look at my swirly stars and sunny flowers, they make you feel happy, too. Always remember to look for the beautiful colors all around you.
