Winston Churchill

Hello there. My name is Winston. A long, long time ago, in the year 1874, I was born in a very big house. It was a beautiful castle called Blenheim Palace. It had big rooms and grand gardens to explore. When I was a little boy, my favorite thing to do was play with my toy soldiers. I had so many of them. I would line them all up in neat rows. We would have big parades across the floor. Sometimes, we would go on exciting adventures all around my room. It was so much fun to be the leader of my little army.

When I grew up, my country needed a helper. So I decided to help. I became the Prime Minister, which is like being the team captain for the whole country. It was my job to help everyone work together and be safe. There was a very hard time when everyone felt a little scared. I used my words to help them feel brave. I told them, "We can do it. We are strong." My words were like a big, warm hug for everyone. I wanted them all to feel hopeful. My wonderful wife, Clementine, was always there to help me. She helped me be brave, too.

After a long day of helping, I loved to do something that made my heart happy. I loved to paint. I would get my brushes and my bright, happy colors. I painted pictures of sunshine and pretty flowers in the garden. I painted pictures of sparkly blue water. Painting made me feel so calm and peaceful. It was my special, quiet time. After a long, busy life of helping and painting, I grew very old and then I died. It is so important to be a helper for others. But it is also important to find something you love that fills your world with color and joy.
