A Story of Light and Shadow
Do you feel that warm glow when you wake up in the morning. Whoosh. I zoom through your window and fill your whole room with brightness. I say hello to your toes and tickle your nose. But wait. Who is that dark, wiggly friend following you on the floor. When you stand up, your friend stands up too. When you dance, your friend dances with you. It’s like a game of peek-a-boo. We love to play with you all day long, stretching and shrinking as you move around. We follow you everywhere you go, your secret playmate.
Guess who we are. I am Light, and my best friend is Shadow. We are always together, like peanut butter and jelly. It’s a simple game we play. When I, bright Light, shine on something I can’t go through, like you or a big, tall tree, my friend Shadow appears on the other side. A long, long time ago, the very first people saw us. They would sit by a warm, crackling fire in their cozy caves. They watched us dance on the big stone walls. They saw how Shadow would copy everything they did. They used us to tell stories about sleepy bears and jumping bunnies before they even had books to read. We were their first storytellers.
Now it’s your turn to play with us. Can you find us right now. Hold your hands up to me, the Light. Can you see your Shadow friend appear. Wiggle your fingers and make a silly puppet. Maybe you can make a little bird that flies away. When you go outside, we will be there too. I will make the world sunny and bright, and your Shadow will be ready to play a fun game of tag right at your feet. We are always here to paint your world with brightness and fun. Just look for us, and we will be ready to play.
