A Story of the Water Cycle
Hello there. Have you ever splashed in a big puddle after it rains. That's me. But I don't stay in the puddle for long. When the sun comes out and warms me up, I get a tickly feeling and start to float. Up, up, up I go, into the big blue sky. I'm so light I feel like a fluffy feather. I dance and twirl in the air. Up here, I meet lots of friends just like me, and we hold hands to become a big, soft, white cloud, floating together.
We float around in the big sky, like a fluffy boat watching the world below. We see green trees and tiny houses. But soon, our cloud gets very, very full and heavy. It’s time for us to go back down to the ground. We let go of hands and whoosh, down we fall. Sometimes I'm a gentle pitter-patter of rain, making little tapping sounds on your window. Sometimes I'm a soft, white snowflake, cold on your nose. This big trip—from the ground to the sky and back again—is my special job. Do you know who I am. I am the Water Cycle. For a very, very long time, people would watch me splash in puddles, disappear into the air, and fall back down as rain. They watched and wondered until they understood my amazing journey.
My journey is so important for everyone. I give the thirsty flowers a cool drink so they can grow big and colorful. I fill up the rivers so the shiny fish have a place to swim and play. I make sure you have water to drink when you're thirsty and to splash in on a hot, sunny day. I am always moving, always traveling, always helping. I make sure every plant, animal, and person has the water they need to be happy and healthy. I am the Earth's little helper, and I am so proud of my job of sharing water with the world.
