Last Stop on Market Street

I love it when little hands hold me tight. My pages make a soft sound when you turn them, swish, swish. I am a book. My cover is bright and happy. It shows a boy and his grandmother waiting for a big bus. Drip, drop, goes the rain, but they are together. Inside, I am full of colorful pictures that show a big, busy city. There are tall, tall buildings that touch the sky. There are friendly faces everywhere you look. And there is a big, happy bus that goes ‘pssshh-door’ when it opens for you. My name is ‘Last Stop on Market Street’, and I have a wonderful story to share with you.

Two wonderful friends made me. They worked together to make me special. A man named Matt de la Peña wrote all my words. He picked each word so carefully. The words sound like a beautiful song about a boy named CJ and his wise Nana. They are the best of friends. Another friend, Christian Robinson, painted all my pictures. He used bright, cheerful colors and fun shapes to show the world through CJ's eyes. I have yellow, and blue, and red inside me. They brought me to life on January 8th, 2015. They wanted to share a story about finding beautiful, happy things everywhere you look.

When children open me, they get to ride the bus with CJ and Nana. It's a fun adventure. They meet new people on the bus and see that even a rainy city can be full of magic and light. My journey helps you see that the world is full of music, art, and friendship. I am here to remind you that being kind and looking closely can help you find something wonderful, no matter where you are. You can find beautiful things everywhere.
