The Story of the Secret Garden

I sit on a shelf, quiet and waiting. I have a pretty cover with leaves and flowers. When you open me, you can almost smell the dirt and hear the birds sing. I have a big secret inside. It's a garden hidden behind a tall, tall wall. It's a sleepy garden, waiting for a friend. A little key can open the door to my magical place. I am a book full of wonder. I am The Secret Garden.

A very kind lady with a big heart made me. Her name was Frances Hodgson Burnett, and she loved flowers and gardens so much. One day, a long, long time ago in the year 1911, she thought of a story. She imagined a little girl named Mary. Mary felt all alone. But then, Mary found a tiny key. The key opened a secret door to a forgotten garden. Everything inside was sleepy and brown. Mary made new friends. One friend was named Dickon, and he could whistle to the animals. Another friend was Colin, who learned how to walk and play in the sunshine. Together, they watered the little seeds and pulled the weeds. They filled me with happy giggles and bright, beautiful flowers.

Now, children just like you open my pages to visit my garden. My story is like a little seed for your heart. It shows you that when you give something a little love and care, it can grow into something wonderful. Even when you feel a little sad, there is always a happy place waiting to bloom. I am a promise that friendship and sunshine can make everything better. When you read my words, you can have a secret garden too, right inside your imagination.
