My Trip to the Moon
Hello, my name is Neil. I am an astronaut, and I love to fly high up in the sky and look at the twinkling stars. One day, I got to go on a very special trip with my friends, Buzz and Michael. We were going all the way to the Moon. Our rocket ship was called the Saturn V. It was so tall and white, pointing right up to the sky like a giant pencil. When it was time to go, I felt so excited. My tummy felt a little bit wiggly as I climbed up, up, up into my seat. We were ready for a big adventure.
It was time to go. The rocket started to shake. Rumble, rumble, SHAKE. Then, WHOOSH. We blasted off into the sky, going faster and faster. Soon, everything inside our spaceship started to float. I felt as light as a feather. I looked out the little window and saw our home, the Earth. It got smaller and smaller until it looked like a beautiful blue and white marble floating in the dark. After a long trip, our little landing ship, the Eagle, separated from the big rocket. We floated down to the Moon and landed with a soft, gentle bump.
I opened the door and looked out. Wow. Everything was quiet and gray and dusty. I carefully climbed down the ladder in my big, puffy white suit. I took my very first step onto the Moon. I said, 'That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.' That means even a little step can be a big adventure for everyone. It was so much fun to bounce and hop around. We planted a special flag to say, 'We came in peace for all people.' Always remember to dream big. If you work together, you can reach for the stars, too.
