The Magical Building Machine

Hello. I am a 3D Printer. I am a magical building machine. I love to make things for my friends. Do you want to know my secret. I build things layer by layer. It is like stacking yummy pancakes, but my layers are super tiny. I use a special kind of string to make things pop into the world. It is so much fun. I can make a bouncy ball or a little boat. I can even make a brand new toy for you to play with. I hum a happy song while I work, whirring and buzzing as I build.

A very kind man named Chuck Hull invented me. He was my very first friend. On a special day in 1983, he had a big, bright idea. He looked at a drawing on his computer screen and thought, "I wish I could hold that in my hands and show everyone." So, he built me to help make his dream real. He was so excited to see if I could work. He gave me a special light and some magic goo. I used my light to tap, tap, tap on the goo, just like he showed me. Slowly and carefully, something started to grow. It appeared like magic, right out of thin air. And what was it. It was a tiny little teacup, perfect for a doll's tea party. I felt so proud. Chuck was so happy. We made something real from just an idea.

Now, I help people all over the world build wonderful things. I am very busy. I build new toys for kids to play with, like colorful dinosaurs and speedy race cars. I also help doctors by making special tools that help people feel better. Sometimes I even make new hands for people who need them. I love helping bring happy ideas to life. If you can dream of something in your imagination, maybe one day I can help you build it. What will we make together. A rocket ship. A castle. I cannot wait to see.
