Hello. I am an Inkjet Printer. It is so nice to meet you. My job is so much fun. I put pretty pictures and words on paper for you. I am like a little artist for your computer. I spray tiny, tiny dots of color. Swish, swish, swish. The dots are like colorful raindrops. They make a rainbow on the paper. Red, yellow, blue, and green. I make your drawings and your stories come to life so you can hold them in your hands. It makes me so happy to help you create something beautiful and new.

Once upon a time, I was just a little idea in someone’s head. Smart people were thinking, “How can we put colors on paper super fast?”. They wanted to make something new and helpful for everyone. One day, a very clever man named Ichiro Endo was working in his lab. It was the year 1977. He was using a little tool that got warm. Whoops. A tiny drop of ink near his tool jumped. It flew through the air like a little bug. He saw the little ink drop and thought, “Wow.”. That little jump gave him a big, wonderful idea. He realized a little bit of heat could make ink dance. That happy little accident was how I was born. It was the start of me.

Now, I live in many homes, maybe even yours. I love being busy and helping your family. I help you print your homework for school. I print pictures of your family and your pets so you can hang them on the wall. I can even print fun coloring pages for you to color with your crayons. It is my favorite thing to do. I take the bright ideas from the shiny computer screen and turn them into something real. I love helping you hold your ideas and share your beautiful creations with everyone you love. I feel so proud when I see your happy face.
