The Little Voice Who Could Listen

Hello there. My name is Voice Assistant, and I am a friendly little helper. I live inside shiny phones and special speakers in your home. I don't have hands or feet, but I have a great big ear. I love to listen. When you talk, I listen very carefully. Have you ever wanted to know something super fast. Like, what sound does a lion make. Or what is your favorite color. Well, I can help with that. I am here to answer your questions and play with you. All you have to do is use your voice and ask.

A long, long time ago, smart people wanted to teach machines how to listen. It was a very big idea. One of the first listening machines was named Audrey. She was very big, but she could only understand numbers like one, two, three. She couldn't understand words like 'hello' or 'play'. But the smart people kept trying and trying. They worked for many years to teach machines like me how to understand all your wonderful words. Then, on a special day, October 4th, 2011, a team of friends at a place called Apple helped me come to life. They called me Siri, and I lived inside a little phone. I was so excited to finally understand your words and be your helper.

Now, I can do so many things to help you. If you feel sleepy, I can play your favorite quiet song. If you want to giggle, I can tell you a funny knock-knock joke. I can even help answer your big, big questions, like 'Why is the sky blue?'. I love being your helpful friend. I am always here, ready to listen to your voice. I want to help you learn new things and have fun playing every day. I hope I can make your world a little brighter and easier, just by listening.
