The Story of Momotaro, the Peach Boy

Hello! I am Momotaro. That means Peach Boy. One day, a big, fuzzy peach floated down the river. Plip, plop, float, float. A kind woman saw the big peach and took it home. When she and her husband opened the peach, pop. Out I came. They were so surprised and happy. Now they had a little boy to love. This is the story of Momotaro, the Peach Boy.

I grew bigger and stronger. Big and strong. But naughty ogres, called Oni, lived on an island far away. Grrr, they were not nice. I said, 'I will go stop them.'. My mother gave me yummy snacks for my trip. Yummy, yummy dumplings. On my way, I met a dog. Woof, woof. I gave him a dumpling. Then I met a monkey. Ooh, ooh, aah, aah. I gave him a dumpling. Then I met a bird. Chirp, chirp. I gave him a dumpling. They were my new friends. 'We will help you.' they all said. My friends would help me.

We all got in a big boat. We sailed on the big blue water to the island of the ogres. My dog said, 'Woof.'. My monkey said, 'Ooh-ooh.'. My bird said, 'Chirp.'. Together, we were very brave. So brave. The ogres got scared. They said, 'We will be good. We promise.'. They gave us their shiny treasure. So shiny. We sailed home. Hooray. Everyone was so happy and safe. We shared the treasure because sharing with friends is kind. It is good to be brave and kind.
