The Lion and the Mouse

Squeak, squeak. Hello. My name is Millie. I am a little, little mouse. I have soft grey fur and a long, wiggly tail. Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle. I live in a big, green forest. The sun is warm and the trees are so tall. I love to run and play and find yummy seeds to eat. Nibble, nibble, crunch. One sunny day, something very surprising happened. I learned how even a tiny mouse can be a big friend. This is the story of The Lion and the Mouse.

There was a big, big Lion in my forest. He had a fuzzy mane, as yellow as the sun. One day, the Lion was sleeping. Shhh, he was sleeping. I was running so fast, I didn’t see him. I ran right over his big, twitchy nose. Oops. The Lion woke up. He said, 'ROAR.'. It was a very loud roar. He put his giant, soft paw right on top of me. I was so small under his big paw. I squeaked, 'Oh, please let me go, big Lion. One day, I will help you. I promise.'. The Lion laughed a big laugh. 'You are too little to help me,' he said. But the Lion was kind. He lifted his paw, and I ran away. Scurry, scurry, scurry.

Later, I heard a loud roar. ROAR. ROAR. It was the Lion. He was caught in a big rope net. He could not get out. He pulled and pulled, but he was stuck. I remembered my promise. I promised I would help him. I ran to the big net. My teeth are small, but they are very sharp. I started to chew the rope. Nibble, nibble, chew. I chewed and chewed and chewed. One rope snapped. Then another. Soon, the big Lion was free. He smiled a big, happy smile at me. 'Thank you, little mouse,' he roared gently. 'You are small, but you are a very big help.'. I was so happy I could help my new friend. It is good to be kind, because even a little mouse can help a big lion.
