The Myth of the Monkey King
On a mountain with yummy fruits and sparkly waterfalls lived a very special monkey. His name was Sun Wukong, and he was born from a magic stone that shone like the sun and the moon. This is the story of the Monkey King. One day, Sun Wukong did something very brave. He jumped right through a giant, splashing waterfall! All the other monkeys cheered, “Hooray!”. Behind the water was a warm, cozy cave. It was a perfect home for everyone! The monkeys were so happy they made brave Sun Wukong their king, and they had parties with sweet fruits every day.
Being a king was so much fun. But Sun Wukong wanted to be the strongest and cleverest monkey in the whole world. So he went on a long trip to learn magic. A kind teacher taught him 72 amazing tricks. He could turn into a little buzzing bee. Buzz, buzz! He could turn into a tall, green tree. He even learned to fly on a soft, fluffy cloud, zipping across the sky. Whoosh! Sun Wukong flew deep, deep down under the sea to visit the Dragon King's shiny palace. There, the Dragon King gave him a magic staff. The staff could grow super tall like a mountain or shrink super small, tiny enough to fit right in his ear.
Sun Wukong loved his new magic. At first, he used his powers to play silly tricks, which sometimes got him into a little bit of trouble. But soon he learned something very important. Being strong and clever is best when you use your powers to help your friends. So, the Monkey King went on a big, big adventure. He protected a kind friend on a long journey, using his magic staff and clever tricks to keep him safe from any danger. For many, many years, families have told the story of the Monkey King. It is a happy story that reminds everyone to be brave, be clever, and always help your friends on any adventure.
