The Odyssey
Hello. My name is Odysseus. I am a king from a very sunny island called Ithaca. I am on my big boat, sailing on the big, blue sea. The water goes sparkle, sparkle, sparkle in the sun. Oh, how I miss my home. I want to go back to my family. My trip home is a very long trip. It is a big adventure. People call my story The Odyssey.
My boat goes up, up, up on the big waves. Then it goes down, down, down. It is a long way home. One day, we saw a green island. On the island was a giant. He was so tall, as tall as a house. He had one big eye right in the middle of his face. One big, round eye. He was a grumpy giant. But I was clever, and we all sailed away safely. Whoosh. Another time, we heard a pretty song. La, la, la, it was so lovely. The song came from a rocky island. It was a tricky song to make us stop. But my friends helped me, and we kept sailing, sailing, sailing on the big, blue sea. We never stopped sailing for home.
After a long, long time on my boat, I saw something. I saw my home. I saw my sunny island, Ithaca. My heart was so happy. It went thump, thump, thump inside my chest. I was finally home. I saw my wonderful wife, Penelope. I saw my brave son, Telemachus. My long, long journey was over. My story shows that it is good to be brave. It is good to be clever. And it is always wonderful to come home. Coming home is the very best part of any adventure.
