The Snow Queen
There once was a little girl named Gerda, and her very best friend was a boy named Kai. They lived in a big town where they grew bright red roses. One cold winter day, a tiny, tiny piece of magic ice flew into Kai’s eye. It made his heart feel as cold as a little stone. He stopped being a kind friend, and then one day, he was gone. This is the story of The Snow Queen.
Soon, a beautiful queen came to town. She rode in a sleigh that sparkled like ice and stars. This was the Snow Queen. She whisked Kai away to her home in the far, cold north. But Gerda knew she had to find him. She put on her little red shoes and started a long, long trip. She walked and walked. She met talking flowers and a kind reindeer who knew the way. The reindeer knew the way to the Snow Queen's home. Gerda was brave for her friend.
The kind reindeer carried Gerda all the way to a giant palace made of ice. Everything was shiny and cold. Brrr. Inside, Gerda found Kai all alone. He looked very sad, playing with cold pieces of ice. Gerda ran to him and gave him a big, warm hug. Her happy tears were warm, too. When they fell on Kai, they melted the magic in his heart. Pop. The cold magic was all gone. Kai remembered his friend, and they danced and laughed together.
Gerda and Kai traveled all the way home, and their red roses were blooming just for them. The story of The Snow Queen was written a long, long time ago, on December 21st, 1844. It teaches us that love and friendship are the best magic. It shows that even when things feel cold, a warm heart can make everything better. Today, this story helps make happy movies and songs that remind us to be brave and kind for the people we love.
