The Story of Mother Ganga

High in the snowy mountains, I was just a tiny drop of water, sleeping in the soft, white snow. Then the sun tickled me awake. I melted and started to trickle down, down, down. I giggled as I joined my friends, other little water drops, and together we made a little stream. We wiggled and danced over smooth stones and past tall green trees. We grew bigger and stronger with every wiggle. Soon, I was a wide, sparkly ribbon flowing through the land. I am the Ganges River, but many of my friends call me Mother Ganga. I love to sparkle in the sunshine for everyone to see.

My big journey takes me through so many wonderful places. I flow through sunny fields where flowers bloom and quiet forests where trees whisper secrets. Friendly animals come to visit me for a drink. Colorful birds dip their beaks in my cool water, and playful monkeys swing from branches to say hello. I also pass by towns and cities. Families come to my grassy banks to splash and play. They sing happy songs and float bright flowers on my gentle waves. I love feeling the happy splashes and hearing the happy songs. I am a special place for everyone to gather.

A River of Life and Smiles
I have a very important job. I share my water to help yummy fruits and vegetables grow big and strong for children to eat. I help the flowers grow tall and colorful. I connect so many people and places, like a long, flowing hug for the land. I love my journey to the big blue sea, and I will always be here, flowing and singing, sharing my water and my smiles with everyone.
