About Us

Education Through Storytelling

Storypie helps kids ages 3–12 learn big ideas through friendly, first-person audio stories—age-right, multilingual, and made to spark curiosity. Our goal is simple: turn screen time into growth time.

Our Story

It all began in Cleveland, Ohio, with Jaikaran Sawhny—a father and passionate innovator who envisioned a way to seamlessly blend play and education.

As a father watching his own children navigate screen time, Jaikaran saw an opportunity: what if technology could make learning feel like play? What if kids could meet Albert Einstein, explore ancient Rome, or discover how airplanes fly—all through stories told in a voice they trust?

This vision grew into Storypie, launched in 2025 by a dedicated team of educators, artists, engineers, and AI specialists. Together, we built a platform with two powerful modes: Learn & Explore (educational first-person stories) and Create (personalized adventures). Available in 27 languages and designed for ages 3–12, Storypie turns screen time into growth time.

How we teach

(a peek under the hood)

Plate Tectonics — Big idea

Ages 6–8

I’m a secret power deep inside the Earth. Imagine the whole world is a cracked eggshell, and the big pieces slowly drift on the gooey inside. When pieces bump, they push up mountains; when they slide past, the ground can shake. For a long time people didn’t know I was here, but I left clues — edges that look like they could fit together and matching fossils found on far‑apart coasts. Hello — I’m Plate Tectonics, the busy puzzle‑mover changing Earth all the time.

Ages 10–12

The ground feels solid, yet I am the quiet power that lifts mountains millimeters per year and widens oceans inch by inch. Sometimes stored energy releases in a sudden shudder — an earthquake — reminding you the surface is not one unbroken shell. Look closely at a world map: coastlines echo each other because the puzzle was once whole, its pieces still drifting today. I am the planet’s slow, powerful heartbeat — Plate Tectonics.

Vocabulary & sentence length

Ages 6–8 use concrete words and short sentences (eggshell, puzzle, shake) to lower cognitive load and build confidence.
Ages 10–12 introduce academic terms and quantities (millimeters a year, widening oceans), bridging to science‑class language.

Concept focus

6–8 centers on visible effects (mountains push up, ground trembles) to anchor a durable mental model of change.
10–12 foregrounds the system (plates riding the mantle) and how boundary types explain quakes, volcanoes, and uplift.

Metaphor ↔ precision

6–8 leans on friendly metaphors (cracked eggshell, puzzle, conveyor) to make the unseen intuitive.
10–12 keeps imagery but layers causal, quantitative language to increase precision without losing engagement.

Learning goal

Build a schema: Earth is changing; simple cause‑effect links connect plate motion to mountains and shaking.
Strengthen causal reasoning and transfer: relate plate boundaries to hazards and long‑term landscape formation.

Age‑banding balances clarity and challenge so each learner gets the right depth, language, and purpose for their stage.
