Christopher Columbus

Hello. My name is Christopher. When I was a little boy, I lived in a sunny place called Italy, right next to the big, blue sea. I loved to watch the tall ships with their big white sails bobbing on the waves. I dreamed that one day, I would be the captain of my own ship and sail off to find new and exciting places. I always looked at the water and wondered what was on the other side.

When I grew up, I had a super big idea. Everyone thought the only way to get to faraway lands was by going one way. But I thought, 'What if I sail the other way, across the giant ocean?'. A long time ago, in the year 1492, the King and Queen of Spain thought my idea was a great adventure. They gave me three ships to sail. Their names were the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa María. My friends and I waved goodbye and sailed off on our big journey. For many, many days, all we saw was blue water and the bright sky.

Then, one morning, a sailor shouted, 'Land.'. We were so happy. I had found land, just like I thought I would. We saw green trees, colorful birds, and met new people who lived there. It was a whole new world to us. My journey helped show everyone just how big and wonderful our world is, with so many amazing places and people to discover. And it all started with a little boy who loved the sea and had a big dream.
