Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Hello there. My name is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Can you say Mozart? It’s a fun name. I was born a long, long time ago, in the year 1756. I lived in a pretty town called Salzburg. My house was a happy house. It was always filled with music. My Papa Leopold loved music. My big sister, Nannerl, loved music, too. We played music all day long. Our home was like a big, happy song. We would sing and play and dance together. It was the best sound in the whole wide world.

When I was very little, even smaller than you, I saw a big piano. My fingers wanted to dance on the keys. Plink, plonk, plink. Soon, I was playing beautiful songs. I was only four years old. My Papa was so surprised. He said, "Wolfgang, you have music inside you." My sister Nannerl and I went on big adventures. We traveled in a bumpy carriage to faraway places. We saw big, shiny castles. We played our music for kings and queens in fancy rooms with sparkly lights. I wore a special wig and a little red coat. It was so much fun. The best part was seeing everyone smile and clap when we finished our songs. Making people happy with my music made me happy, too.

Happy songs were always popping into my head, like little bubbles. I had to write them all down so I wouldn't forget. I wrote music for dancing, music for singing, and music to make you feel sleepy and calm. I grew very old, and then my life ended. But my music is still here for you. It flies all around the world like a little bird, sharing happy feelings. I hope when you hear my songs, it makes you want to get up and dance.
