I Am Division!

Have you ever had a big pile of yummy cookies to share with a friend. What do you do. You give one cookie to your friend, and one cookie to you. Then another for your friend, and another for you. You keep going until all the cookies are gone. Look. Now you both have the same number of cookies. It's fair. Sharing makes everyone feel happy and warm inside. It’s like a big, warm hug. That’s what I do. I help you share things equally so everyone gets a turn and a smile. I am Division. I make sharing easy and fun for everyone.

I am a very, very old idea. I have been helping people share for a long, long time. Way back, before there were houses like yours, families would gather yummy red berries from bushes. They wanted to make sure everyone got some. So, they would make little piles of berries. One pile for mama, one for papa, one for the little girl, and one for the little boy. Everyone got their own little pile. It was a kind way to live. I helped them make sure no one was hungry and no one felt left out. I have always been here to help people be fair and kind to each other.

Today, you can find me everywhere. When your family orders a big, round pizza, I am there. I help cut the pizza into slices so everyone gets a piece. Yum. When you play a card game with your friends, I am there. I help you give the same number of cards to each player. It’s my job to make sure the game is fair from the very start. I am even there when you clean up your toys. You can use me to put your blocks in one box and your cars in another. I love helping you share and sort. I make sure everyone can play and have fun together.
