I Am Rain
I start with a little whisper, a pitter-patter on your window. I tap-tap-tap on the roof of your car and make little rings in puddles. I love helping you splash in your big rain boots. It is so much fun. I give thirsty flowers a big, cool drink. I wash all the dust off the green, green leaves so they can shine. I make the world clean and fresh. Can you guess who I am. That is right. I am Rain. Hello.
I am a great traveler. I go on a big trip all the time. When the sun shines bright and warm, it tickles the water in big oceans and tiny puddles. That warmth lifts me up, up, up into the big blue sky. I become so light and airy that you cannot even see me. High in the air, I find my other water drop friends. We love to play together. We hold hands to become a big, white, fluffy cloud. We float around together like a big cotton ball. But soon the cloud gets so full and heavy with all of us. Then, we cannot hold on any longer. and whoosh. We tumble down to earth again to say hello.
My journey is so important. I love to help everyone. I help farmers grow yummy carrots and sweet red strawberries for you to eat. I fill up the rivers so fish have a place to swim, swim, swim. I give all the animals, from tiny squirrels to big bears, cool water to drink. Sometimes, if the sun comes out to say hello while I am falling, I help it make a beautiful rainbow across the sky. All the colors are so bright. So next time you see me, remember my big trip and how I help our wonderful world grow.
