The Story of the Triangle
I have three straight sides and three pointy corners. Can you guess what I am? Sometimes I look like a slice of yummy pizza or the roof on a cozy house. I can be a sail on a boat, catching the big wind to help it go. I love my three special points. Have you guessed yet? That’s right. I am the Triangle. It is so nice to meet you. I am a very happy shape.
One of the best things about me is that I am super, duper strong. If you push on my corners, I don’t wobble or wiggle at all. I stay put. A long, long time ago, people in a sunny place called Egypt discovered how strong I am. On a warm day, maybe around August 1st, 2560 BCE, they used me to build giant, pointy buildings called pyramids that reached for the sky. They are so big. Even today, if you look at tall bridges or big yellow cranes, you'll see me hiding in their frames, keeping everything sturdy and safe so people can use them to build and travel.
My favorite job is popping up in your world every single day. I can be a musical instrument you can ring... ding, ding, ding. I'm the shape of a pretty pine tree at wintertime and the yummy shape of a chip you dip in salsa. I help keep you safe when I am a warning sign on the road. I love being a shape that helps you build, eat, and play. Look around you today—how many times can you spot me hiding somewhere fun?
