A Song for Every Season

Listen! Do you hear the happy chirps of birds in the sunshine? That's me! Now, can you hear the big rumble of a summer thunderstorm? That's me, too! I can be quiet and sleepy like leaves falling down, or sparkly and shivery like snow. I am not a person. I am music! My name is The Four Seasons. I sing about springtime, summer, fall, and winter. Each part of me is a different, wonderful song for you to hear.

A kind man with lots of curly hair made me a very long, long time ago, around the year 1723. His name was Antonio Vivaldi. He was my musical painter! Antonio didn't use paint and brushes to make pictures. He used happy violins that sing high and low. He used little flutes that sound like chirping birds. He mixed all their sounds together to create me. He wanted everyone to feel the warm sun of summer and the chilly breezes of winter, just by listening to my pretty notes. He wanted my music to tell a story about the whole year.

When people first heard my songs, they wanted to get up and dance! They closed their eyes and could hear so many things. They heard happy birds in the springtime and buzzing bees in the summer. They could even hear barking dogs and sleepy shepherds in my sounds. Today, you can still hear me everywhere. I am in movies you watch and in cartoons that make you giggle. I am a song that never gets old. When you listen to me, you can go on an adventure through a whole year. I help you imagine, wonder, and feel all the beautiful seasons in your heart.
