The Princess and the Frog Prince
Once upon a time, there was a Princess who lived in a big, shiny castle with her father, the King. Her most favorite toy in the whole wide world was a beautiful, sparkling golden ball. One sunny day, she played with her ball near a cool, deep well, tossing it high, high, high into the air. She did not know that a little bit of magic was about to happen in the story of The Frog Prince.
Oh no! The golden ball slipped from her hands. It fell right into the well with a big SPLASH! The Princess began to cry because she thought her shiny ball was gone forever and ever. Suddenly, a little green frog with big, bubbly eyes popped his head out of the water. He croaked, 'I can get your ball if you promise to be my friend. Let me eat from your plate and sleep in your room.' The Princess was so happy, she quickly said, 'Yes, yes, I promise!'
The little frog dove down, down, down into the water and brought back the golden ball. The Princess grabbed it and ran back to the big castle, forgetting all about the little frog. But later, as she and the King were eating dinner, they heard a tiny sound. Tap, tap, tap. It was the frog at the door! The Princess did not want to let him in, but the wise King said, 'A promise is a promise.' So, she had to let the little frog eat from her golden plate, even though he was wet and slippery.
When it was bedtime, the Princess carried the frog to her room. She did not want a wet frog on her soft pillow, but she remembered her promise. As soon as the frog touched the pillow, POOF! He turned into a kind prince with a big, happy smile. He had been under a magic spell! They became the very best of friends. The story reminds everyone to always keep their promises, because kindness can be found in the most surprising places.
