Hello, I am Canada!
Can you feel the soft, white snow on your nose. It tickles. I have lots of tall, green trees and big, shiny lakes that sparkle in the sun. If you are very quiet, you might see my friends, the busy beaver and the tall moose. My red maple leaves dance in the wind. I am a giant, cozy country full of wonders. I am Canada.
A very, very long time ago, my first storytellers lived here. They are the Indigenous peoples, and they know all my secrets. They told stories about the moon and the stars and took care of my lands. Then, one day, big ships sailed across the big blue water. Friends from far away in places called France and England came to see me. We all decided to be one big family. On a sunny day, July 1st, 1867, everyone joined together to make me one big country. We call that special day my birthday.
Do you see my flag. It has a big, red maple leaf right in the middle. It’s like a friendly wave that says 'hello' to everyone in the world. People who live with me love to play. They build snowmen in the winter and watch green and purple lights dance in the night sky. I love being a big, friendly home where everyone can share stories, sing songs, and have happy adventures together. I am here to be your friend.
