The Story of the Northeast

I love to change my clothes with the seasons. In the fall, I wear a crunchy carpet of red and yellow leaves for you to jump in. When winter comes, I pull up a soft, white blanket of snow so I can sleep and dream. In the spring, I wake up and put on my prettiest flower dresses, and in the summer, my sandy beaches are warm and sunny for wiggling your toes. I have tall, green mountains for climbing and a long, rocky coast where waves splash and sing a happy song. I am the Northeast of the United States.

A long, long time ago, my first friends lived here. They were called the Native Americans. They knew all my secrets, like where the tallest trees grew and where the fish loved to swim. Then one day, big ships with puffy white sails came across the big, blue ocean. On November 11th, 1620, a ship called the Mayflower brought new friends called the Pilgrims. They were so happy to see me. They built cozy homes and little towns that grew bigger and bigger. It was right here that people had a very big idea. They wanted to start a new country all their own. And so they did. On a sunny day, July 4th, 1776, the United States of America was born right here with me.

Today, I am still a place full of wonder and fun. My cities have buildings that sparkle and reach for the sky, and my towns have happy schools where children learn and play. People love to visit me. They explore my beautiful parks, hike up my green mountains, and share exciting new ideas. I am a special place where old stories live inside my trees and rivers, and brand new adventures begin every single day. Maybe you can come visit me, and we can make happy new memories together.
