Cloud

A rabbit hole you can let them go down.

Every one of the 87,000+ stories is on the device already, in 27 languages. Nothing is locked, nothing costs extra, and nothing they can reach was put there by a stranger. One question really does lead to the next, and that is the point.

  • Press play on anythingThe whole library is open to them. No card to buy first, no grown-up to ask.
  • One thing leads to anotherVolcanoes at bedtime, then Pompeii, then Ancient Rome, on their own steam.
  • Nowhere bad to end upNo feed, no comments, no ads, no search box onto the open internet.

The story ends with a question.

Four colored buttons ring the screen. The story asks, they answer, and the screen tells them how they did. No reading, no typing, nothing to log into.

The screen is 32 pixels across. Coarse enough that nobody stares at it, and just enough to show a rocket, a star, or which button to press.

The price goes up as the tiers fill.

Not a countdown. A cap we set and will honor. Whichever tier you reserve in is the price written onto your reservation, and it does not move afterwards.

Two hundred miles away, and still in the conversation.

Nobody has to be free at the same time. She records it when she thinks of it. He answers when he gets in from soccer. No call to arrange, no time zone to solve.

Grandma, 4:15pm

Hi Tommy, I hope your soccer game went well today. I cannot wait to hear all about it.

Tommy, that night

Hi Gram! I scored two goals today, it was unbelievable.

  1. Grandma records a minute in the app. From anywhere. No account for your child, no call to schedule.

  2. You approve it. Every message, in both directions, waits for you. Nothing reaches your child until you say yes, and nothing your child records leaves the house until you say yes to that too.

  3. They press Messages and hear her. Then record an answer whenever they are ready.

You choose who can reach your child, one person at a time, and you can remove anyone instantly. There is no open inbox, no requests from strangers, and no way in for anyone you have not invited.

The other boxes sell you the box, then sell you the stories.

Tonies and Yoto are good products. This is the part of them parents get tired of.

Questions

It holds your place in the founding round and locks in the $79 founder price, against $129 at launch, and it comes off the price when you order. If you change your mind, cancel any time from the link in your email and you will have the full $19 back, in one click. No forms, no emails to write.

Tonies sells you the box, then sells you the stories one figurine at a time, at $12 to $18 each. Fifteen of them is $180 to $270 on top of the box, and they are small enough to lose. Crumble arrives with the whole library already on it and nothing further to buy. A Toniebox also cannot carry a message from Grandma, or ask your child a question at the end of a story.

Yoto is a lovely product, and honestly the closest thing to Crumble. The difference is the cards: they are $7 to $13 each, and there are around a thousand of them. With Crumble the 87,000+ stories in 27 languages are already on the device, your child answers quiz questions with the four colored buttons, and messages go both ways.

Yes, and that's exactly why we built it. Four quick action buttons, a dial, simple player controls, and four colored answer buttons. Nothing complicated to figure out, and nothing they need to come and ask you about.

Only the people you invite, and only after you have approved each recording, in both directions. There is no open inbox, no requests from strangers, and no way for anyone you have not invited to reach the device. You stay in the middle of every message.

No, and there is no open-ended chat anywhere on the device. When your child makes a story they are picking from characters, settings and genres, and what comes back is narrated just like any other story in the library.

It is the same subscription everyone else pays $5.99 a month for, and it is not limited to the device. It unlocks your whole Storypie account: the full library on the website, in the app and on Crumble, all on one login. Founding families get it for life, which is really the heart of the founder offer.

We would rather not invent a date, because we would only have to move it. What we can promise is that founding families hear the real timeline first, and the honest version of it at every step, including the parts that slip.

It is there for one reason: so your child can answer Grandma. Nothing leaves the device until you have approved it, and there is a physical switch on the back that cuts the microphone at the hardware level, so it is off when you say it is off.

We are still deciding, and we are deciding it from where reservations actually come from, which is why the form asks. If it turns out we cannot reach you, you get every penny back.
