The story

A Harpy Eagle's Sky-High Story

Hello from the treetops. My name is Harpy Eagle. I am a very special bird. I am one of the biggest and strongest birds in the entire world. I have a crown of feathers right on top of my head. It is so pretty. When I feel excited, my special crown of feathers stands right up. It is fun to show how I feel. My home is way, way up high in the rainforest. I live in the canopy, which is the very top of the trees. It is the best home for a big eagle like me.

I love to fly between the tall trees in my rainforest home. It feels so good to stretch my big wings and soar through the air. I have very big feet, and on my feet, I have very powerful claws. My special claws are called talons. Can you say talons? They are so strong and sharp. My talons are as big as a grizzly bear's claws. That is really, really big. They are perfect for catching my food when I am hungry. Using my super strong talons, I can catch sloths hanging from the trees and monkeys playing in the branches. I also use my strength to build a big nest. I make it strong and safe for my baby. A baby eagle is called an eaglet. My nest is a cozy home for my little one.

Being a big eagle is a very important job here in the rainforest. By hunting for my food, I help keep my forest home balanced and healthy. It is my special job to help all the plants and animals live together. I help make sure everything stays just right. I love my home so much. I am a proud guardian of the treetops. I feel happy when I am soaring high above all the green leaves. I will always watch over my beautiful rainforest home from the sky. It is the best job in the world.
