The Orca's Ocean Song

Hello! My name is Orca. Some people call me a killer whale, but I have a secret. I am not a whale! I am the biggest dolphin in the whole wide world. I live in the big, blue ocean with my family. My family is called a pod. We swim together and we play together all day. It is easy to see me in the water. I am black and I am white, like I am wearing a tuxedo.

My most favorite thing to do is jump high out of the water. SPLASH! I love to make a big, big wave. My family and I talk to each other all the time. We do not use words. We make special sounds. We make clicks and whistles and happy calls. This is how we say, 'Hello!' It is also how we say, 'Let's go find some yummy fish to eat!' We always help each other find our food.

I am a very strong swimmer. I am also a great hunter. Being at the top of the food chain is a very big job. It means I help maintain ecological balance in marine ecosystems by regulating prey populations. I love my ocean home and my family pod. I am proud to be a helper in our wonderful ocean world.
