The story

King Francis I of France

Hello. My name is Francis, and a long, long time ago, I was the king of a beautiful country called France. Being a king was a very big job. I got to wear fancy clothes and live in amazing castles. I loved my country and wanted to make it the most wonderful place in the world.

My very favorite thing was art. I loved looking at beautiful paintings and amazing statues. I even invited a famous artist named Leonardo da Vinci to come live near me. He was a wonderful friend, and he brought a special painting with him that you might know—the Mona Lisa. I also loved building fairytale castles with tall, pointy towers, like the amazing Château de Chambord.

I lived a big, exciting life as king. I lived to be 52 years old. People remember me today because I filled France with so much incredible art and built so many magnificent castles that you can still go and visit. I helped make my country a place full of beauty and wonder for everyone to enjoy.
