Francisco Pizarro
Hello, my name is Francisco Pizarro. A long, long time ago, I was a little boy with a big dream. I lived in a country called Spain. I loved to look at maps of the big, blue sea. I wanted to be an explorer. I would pretend I was the captain of a giant ship, sailing far, far away. I dreamed of finding new lands and seeing amazing new things. I would run around my yard, pretending my toy boat was sailing on giant waves. I knew one day my dream would come true.
When I was all grown up, my dream did come true. In the year 1524, I got on a real ship. It was so big. The sails were as tall as a house. Whoosh. The wind pushed us across the ocean. We sailed for many days and many nights. The waves went up and down, up and down. Sometimes, friendly dolphins would swim next to our ship. They would jump and play in the water. We all cheered when we saw them. It was a long journey, but I was so happy to be on my big adventure.
After sailing for a very long time, one of my friends shouted, "Land ahoy." We had found a new place. We climbed tall mountains and found a shiny kingdom. The people there were called the Inca. They wore clothes with all the colors of the rainbow. Their cities were beautiful. I helped to build a new city there called Lima. It was right next to the big, blue ocean. I lived a long life full of adventure. I grew very old, and then I died. I am remembered for following my dreams across the sea. You can follow your dreams, too.
