I Am a Circle
Hello there. You see me all the time, but you might not know my name. I am the shape of the big, bright sun that shines in the sky. I am the shape of the glowing moon at night. I have no corners and no pointy ends. I just go round and round, like a happy little loop that never stops. I love to roll and spin all day long. I am smooth and friendly.
I am a Circle. Long, long ago, people saw me in puddles when soft raindrops fell, plink, plonk. They saw me in the shape of yummy red berries they picked to eat. They thought, 'Wow, this round shape is useful.' So, they made the very first wheels that looked just like me. Vroom, vroom. Those round wheels helped them roll heavy things from one place to another. It was so much easier. They also made round pots from soft clay to hold their water and round plates for their food. I was helping everyone.
Today, you can find me everywhere you look. I am the shape of a bouncy ball you throw and catch. I am a yummy, warm cookie and the shiny bubbles you blow into the air. Pop. When you and your friends hold hands and dance, you make a big circle of friendship. I have no beginning and no end, which reminds us that fun and friendship can go on forever and ever. What round things that look like me can you find today?
