International Paralympic Committee

Hello! We are the International Paralympic Committee. That is a long name, so you can call us the IPC for short. Our job is to help organize a very big sports event. It is called the Paralympic Games. These games are so exciting to watch! Athletes come from all over the world to be in the games. We help make sure everything is ready for them to play.

The athletes in our Paralympic Games are very special. They are athletes with disabilities. This means their bodies might work in a different way, but they are very strong and talented. They work hard every single day to be great at their sport. They practice running, swimming, and playing all the time. They are truly amazing at what they do.

Some of our athletes use special things to help them compete. These things help them play their best. Have you ever seen a racing wheelchair? It has big wheels and helps athletes go super fast on a track. Some runners use special running blades that help them spring and run. This equipment helps them do their very best and play safely.

We have games in the warm summer and games in the cold winter. At the Summer Games, you can watch athletes swim very fast in a pool or run on a track. At the Winter Games, our athletes ski down snowy mountains. They also play a fun team game called sled hockey. There are so many different sports for everyone to see!

Our most important job is to make sure all the games are fair for every athlete. We also want the games to be fun for everyone. We believe that all people should have a chance to play sports and be an athlete if they want to. We are proud to help these amazing athletes from all over the world shine.
