The story

My Life as an Arctic Hare

Hi there! My name is an Arctic Hare, and I live in a very cold and snowy place called the tundra. It is like a big, white playground that stretches as far as I can see! I love hopping all around my beautiful home. To stay cozy, I have a super fluffy, bright white coat in the winter. It keeps me warm when the chilly wind blows. My coat is also my best hiding spot. When I curl up and stay very still, I look just like a little snowball with long ears sitting in the snow. It is my favorite game of hide-and-seek!

I have special tricks that help me live here, and I think of them as my superpowers. My back feet are really big and fuzzy. They are like my very own snowshoes! They help me hop right on top of all the deep snow so I do not sink. It makes it easy to bounce around my playground. When the seasons change and the warm summer sun melts the snow, my fur does a magical trick. It changes from white to a brownish-gray color. This way, I can blend in with the rocks and the dirt. It is my secret camouflage for the summertime!

I am one of the fastest animals in the Arctic. Vroom! I can run super fast across the tundra. Running fast helps me play tag with my friends, and it is also how I stay safe from other animals, like the Arctic fox. For my meals, I love to nibble on tasty twigs and yummy plants that I find hiding under the snow. By eating these plants, I help new ones grow in their place. This helps keep our tundra home healthy and beautiful for everyone who lives here. I am a speedy helper in my snowy world, and my story matters because I help take care of my home.
