The story

Pavo the Peacock's Colorful Day

Hello there. My name is Pavo, and I'm an Indian Peafowl. Since I am a boy, you can call me a peacock. I live in the warm forests and fields of a country called India. The most wonderful thing about me is my giant, sparkly tail. It is not really a tail, but a long bunch of feathers called a train. It shimmers with all my favorite colors. I have shiny blue, bright green, and dazzling gold feathers. Each feather has a little circle on it that looks like a beautiful eye winking right at you.

Every morning, I love to say good morning to the world. I make a big, loud call that sounds like, 'Mee-ow. Mee-ow.' After my big hello, I strut around on my strong legs. I look for breakfast on the ground. I use my beak to peck at tasty seeds and yummy berries. I also love to munch on crunchy insects and find wriggly worms to eat. When I see my friends, I do something very special. The girl peafowl are called peahens. I lift up all my feathers and fan them out like a giant, beautiful rainbow. It's my way of saying, 'Look at me. Aren't I handsome?'.

Showing off my feathers is not just for fun. It is part of my important job in the forest. My beautiful colors bring so much beauty to my home. I also help my home by eating pesky bugs that might bother the plants. In my home country of India, I am a very special and loved bird. People there think I am so wonderful that they made me their national bird. I feel so proud to be a symbol of beauty for so many people. I love spreading joy and color everywhere I go, helping keep the forest healthy and beautiful for everyone.
