Scorpion

Hello there. I am a scorpion, and I'm so happy you're here to listen to my story. My scorpion family has been living in warm, sandy places since long before the year 1900. I have a very busy body that helps me every day. I use my eight legs to scuttle and skitter across the ground. Up front, I have two big pinchers that are great for grabbing onto things I find. And do you see my long tail? I curve it right over my back. At the very tip is my stinger, which is a special tool I use only to protect myself if I feel scared.

My favorite time of day is the nighttime. During the day, the sun makes the sand very hot, so I find a cozy spot to hide under a big rock or a log. It's cool and safe there. But when the big, bright moon starts to shine in the sky, I know it's time for my adventures to begin. The air is cool and everything is quiet. I love to explore my desert home under the twinkling stars. I have a very special secret that I want to share with you. If a human shines a special kind of purple light on me, my whole body glows a beautiful blue-green color. It's like I have my own secret flashlight.

Being a scorpion is a very important job. I am a helper in my desert home. As I walk around at night, I eat tiny bugs and spiders. By doing this, I help keep the desert balanced and clean for all the other animals and plants that live here with me. It feels good to be a helper. I love being a special glowing creature that keeps my home healthy. My story is important because it shows that every animal, no matter how small, has a special purpose and helps make the world a wonderful place to live.
