Just want Anne Sullivan?
Hello. My name is Anne Sullivan. I was born a long, long time ago, in the year 1866. When I was a little girl, my eyes did not see very well. Everything looked blurry, like I was looking through a foggy window. But I did not let that stop me. In 1880, I went to a special school called the Perkins School for the Blind. There, I learned how to read and write in a special way. The school helped make my world feel bigger and brighter.
When I grew up, I became a teacher. In 1887, I traveled to meet a little girl named Helen Keller. Helen could not see and she could not hear. Her world was very quiet and dark, and I wanted to help her. One day, we were standing by a water pump. As the cool water splashed over one of her hands, I took her other hand and spelled the letters W-A-T-E-R. All of a sudden, she understood. It was like a little light turned on in her world.
Helen and I became best friends, and we stayed together for almost 50 years. We showed everyone that it does not matter if you see or hear differently. Everyone can learn and share their ideas with the world. I lived to be 70 years old. People remember me as the teacher who helped open up the world for a very special friend.
