Hello! My name is Francisco Gabilondo Soler, but many people know me as Cri-Cri, the little singing cricket! I was born on October 6th, 1907, in a beautiful town in Mexico called Orizaba. When I was a little boy, I did not like going to school very much. I liked to read big books filled with wonderful stories and fairy tales much more. At night, I loved to look up at the moon and the twinkling stars through my special telescope.
I loved music and stories so much that I wanted to share them with everyone. In 1934, I started my very own radio show. On the show, a little cricket would sing songs and tell tales. That cricket was me, Cri-Cri! I wrote songs about all sorts of fun characters. I wrote about a cowboy mouse, a clumsy doll, and even a grandmother who liked to dance. My violin helped me make all the happy sounds for my songs.
I wrote so many songs for children to enjoy. I lived to be 83 years old, and my time on Earth ended in 1990. But my music never stopped playing! Today, children and their families all over the world still sing my songs and listen to my stories. I am so happy my music continues to bring smiles and joy to everyone.
