A Story About Franklin D. Roosevelt
Hello. My name is Franklin. A long time ago, in the year 1882, I was a little boy who lived in a big, beautiful house in New York. My house was right next to a river. I loved to play outside more than anything. I would run through the fields and watch the birds fly high in the sky. I also had a special hobby. I collected colorful stamps from all over the world. My favorite thing to do was sail my little boat on the water. Feeling the wind and watching the waves made me so happy. I dreamed of sailing across big oceans one day.
When I grew up, something happened that was very hard. I got very sick, and the sickness made my legs feel sleepy. They didn't want to walk or run anymore. At first, I felt sad because I couldn't stand up on my own. But I did not give up. I used a special chair with wheels to help me move, and I wore braces on my legs to help them feel strong. My wonderful wife, Eleanor, was always by my side. She held my hand and told me, "Franklin, you are strong. You can still do great things." Her love helped me feel brave every single day.
Even though it was hard for me to walk, I knew I could still help people. So, I decided to become the president to help my whole country. It was a time when many people felt sad and worried, and they needed someone to give them hope. I wanted to show everyone that no matter what happens, we can be strong and work together. I grew very old helping my country and then I died, but I hope people remember that we can all help others. Being kind and brave makes the world a better place for everyone.
