Just want J.R.R. Tolkien?
Hello! My name is John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, but you can call me Ronald. When I was a little boy, I loved words! I loved how they sounded when I said them. I thought words were so much fun that around the year 1905, I started making up my own secret languages to share with my friends.
As I got older, I kept imagining things. I imagined a whole new world inside my head! I called this magical place Middle-earth. It was a home for brave little people with big, hairy feet called hobbits. There were also wise wizards and sparkly elves. I told my children a story about a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins who went on a very big adventure. They loved it! In 1937, I made the story into a book called 'The Hobbit' so other children could read it, too.
So many people liked my book about the hobbit! They wanted to hear more stories about Middle-earth. So, I wrote a much, much bigger story. Between the years 1954 and 1955, I shared a new story called 'The Lord of the Rings.' It was a giant adventure about friends helping each other and being brave, even when they felt very small. It took a long, long time to write because I wanted my world to feel real.
I lived to be 81 years old, and now my stories are shared all over the world. I am so happy that children and grown-ups still get to visit Middle-earth just by reading my books. It shows that a little bit of imagination can create whole new worlds for everyone to enjoy.
