Just want Othniel Charles Marsh?
Hello! My name is Othniel Charles Marsh. I was born a long, long time ago, in the year 1831. When I was a little boy, I loved to play outside and explore. My favorite thing to do was look for special rocks and fossils on my family's farm. I would walk all around and fill my pockets with all the treasures I could find on the ground.
When I grew up, I became a scientist who studied animals from long, long ago. My job was like being a detective for history! Starting in the 1870s, I went on big adventures to a place called the American West to hunt for dinosaur bones. It was so exciting. My team and I would dig up enormous bones from the ground. Then, we put them together like giant puzzles. We discovered amazing dinosaurs you might know, like the Stegosaurus with plates on its back. We also found the giant Apatosaurus and Brontosaurus.
I wanted everyone to see the incredible dinosaurs I found. I helped create a special place, a museum at Yale University, to show their giant skeletons. That way, people just like you could see how big they really were. I lived to be 67 years old. Today, the bones I found still help us imagine a world full of amazing dinosaurs, and you can visit them in the museum.
