Just want Tenzing Norgay?
Hello. My name is Tenzing Norgay. I am a Sherpa. I grew up in a place with very big, snowy mountains called the Himalayas. The mountains were so tall they touched the clouds. I loved the mountains very much. They were beautiful and strong, and they always felt like my home. I liked to look at them every single day and dream about climbing them.
There is one mountain that is the tallest in the whole world. Its name is Mount Everest. It is covered in ice and snow. For a long, long time, nobody had ever climbed to the very top. It was a very big challenge. I had a friend named Edmund Hillary. He was also a climber who loved mountains just like me. Together, we decided we would try to climb to the top. In the year 1953, we got ready for our big adventure. We knew it would be hard, but we were a team and we were ready to try our best.
We climbed and climbed, higher and higher. It was cold, but we helped each other. Then, one special day, my friend Edmund and I did it. We stood on the very top of Mount Everest. We were the first people in the whole world to ever stand there. It was so exciting. I felt so happy. We were on top of the world, looking down at all the smaller mountains and clouds below us. It was a beautiful sight and a dream come true for both of us.
I lived to be 71 years old. People remember me for being brave and climbing the world's tallest mountain. I hope my story shows you that when you work together with a friend and follow a big dream, anything is possible.
