The Story with a Secret Lesson

Have you ever heard a story where a little mouse helps a great big lion. Or where a slow, steady turtle wins a race against a super-fast bunny. Those are my stories. I am a secret that you find inside a tale. I love to hide in stories where animals can talk and wear little clothes and act just like people. I help make the stories fun and teach you something new. Sometimes I'm about being a good friend, and sometimes I'm about trying your best. I am a whisper of a good idea hiding in a fun story.

Hello. I am a Fable. I'm a special kind of story that has a secret lesson tucked inside, just for you. A very, very long time ago, way back in the 6th century BCE, a clever man in a place called Ancient Greece loved to tell my stories. His name was Aesop. He didn't write his stories in a book. He told them out loud to grown-ups to help them learn big, important things. He would tell tales of clever foxes and hardworking ants to teach people why it’s important to be kind, or why you should always tell the truth. His stories were like little puzzles with a prize at the end, and the prize was learning how to be a good person.

You can still find me today. My stories have been shared for thousands of years, from parents to their children, and you can still find me in your favorite books and cartoons. I’m there to remind you that even the smallest friend can be the biggest hero, and that taking your time is sometimes the best way to win. Whenever you hear a story that helps you learn how to be a good friend or to share your toys, that’s me, a Fable, sharing a little bit of wisdom with you. Keep looking for me in all the stories you read.
