The story

The Big Land Bridge

Hello. I am bigger than any playground you have ever seen. I stretch over wide, grassy fields where the wind whispers secrets, and I climb tall, snowy mountains that touch the clouds. I am a giant bridge made of land, connecting one side of the world to the other. Long ago, people on fast horses would ride for weeks and still be inside my big arms. I was a home to millions of people who lived and traveled together.

My name is the Mongol Empire. I was born a very long time ago, on the big, open plains of Asia. At first, many different families, called tribes, lived separately. But then a brave leader named Temüjin brought everyone together. Around the year 1206, he was given a new name: Genghis Khan. He helped all the tribes become one big family, and that family was me. My people were the best horse riders in the world. They could ride and shoot arrows at the same time, which helped me grow bigger and stronger.

One of my best ideas was a super-fast mail service called the Yam. Riders would gallop from one place to the next, getting fresh horses to deliver messages very, very fast. Because of me, people from far away could share things like soft paper, shiny silk, and yummy spices. I helped them share stories and ideas, too. Today, I am a memory, but I remind everyone that when we connect and share with each other, our world becomes a much bigger, friendlier, and more interesting place.
