My Family

Imagine a warm, cozy hug that makes you feel so safe. Think of a hand holding yours when you cross the street, keeping you from harm. Picture someone tucking you into your soft bed and reading you a story until you fall asleep. It is a happy, loving feeling that is warm like the sun. Do you know who I am?

I am your Family. I am a very, very old idea, as old as the first people who walked the Earth. A long, long, long time ago, hundreds of thousands of years ago, people learned it was better to be together. They would help each other find yummy berries to eat and clean water to drink. They would huddle close to stay warm when the wind was cold. They took care of all the little children, making sure everyone was safe and happy. Living together made them strong and helped everyone feel loved.

Today, I can look many different ways. Some families have a mommy and a daddy. Some have two mommies or two daddies. Some have a grandma or a grandpa who takes care of them, and some have just one parent who gives them lots of hugs. But the most important part of me is always the same. It is love. I am your very first team and your biggest fan. I am a special circle of love that makes a house feel like a warm, happy home.
